On Friday, I posted part one of a three-part series on timeless First Dance songs, which was received with great reception. Today, we continue our review and listen to the next set of 25 timeless First Dance songs, ranging from tried-and-true classics to modern hits.

Again, please use these song lists as a starting point in your search for the perfect First Dance song for your wedding.

The Beatles – “I Will”
A sweet, uptempo tune with the perfect hook for a First Dance song: “Love you forever and forever/ Love you with all my heart/ Love you whenever we’re together/ Love you when we’re apart”

Al Green – “Let’s Stay Together”
Another uptempo selection for the First Dance with sweet, soulful lyrics like: “Let’s, let’s stay together/ Loving you whether, whether/ Times are good or bad, happy or sad”

Frankie Valli – “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”
For a more contemporary version, Lauryn Hill’s rendition is smooth. Very smooth.

Sade – “By Your Side”
Released in 2000, “By Your Side” was named the 48th best love song of all-time by VH1. Therefore, it has to make it on this list of timeless love songs.

Blake Shelton – “God Gave Me You”
A huge hit for Mr. Blake Shelton. But did you know Blake was inspired to cover it after hearing the original version by Christian rock artist, Dave Barnes?

The Rolling Stones – “Wild Horses”
This might be the most controversial First Dance song on this list, for a variety of reasons: lyrics, meaning, etc. As I said on part one, if the song speaks to you, go with it.

Norah Jones – “Come Away With Me”
Soft and sweet, this 2002 hit is definitely swoon-worthy. Random Aside: when I listen to this song, I always hear rain for some reason. The only reason I bring this up? If there is unexpected rain on your wedding day, this song just has to be played, and why not for the First Dance?

Ray Charles – “Come Rain or Come Shine”
Speaking of rain… 🙂 “I’m gonna love you, like nobody’s loved you / Come rain or come shine / High as a mountain, deep as a river / Come rain or come shine”

Bright Eyes – “First Day of My Life”
For fans of indie folk music, this is a great First Dance song selection. Since it came out in 2005, I’ve had several requests for it and don’t think that will change anytime soon.

Rascal Flatts – “Bless The Broken Road”
Perhaps their biggest hit, this song is perfect for those who took a little while to find their soul mate. It will probably be my First Dance song someday. Again, find the song that tells your story 😉

Sam Cooke – “That’s Where It’s At”
There is something about this song that just comes across as magic. If you have a retro style, this song is where it’s at.

Mary Chapin Carpenter – “Grow Old With Me”
A John Lennon song, Mary delivers a powerful vocal performance in this song with sweet lyrics like, “Grow old along with me/ Whatever fate decrees/ We will see it through/ For our love is true”

Ray LaMontagne – “You Are the Best Thing”
An uptempo selection, Ray sings about his lover, who is “the best thing (that’s) ever happened to me”. So much yes on this one.

Natalie Cole & Nat King Cole – “Unforgettable”
Two great voices, one romantic song. Best lyrics: “That’s why, darling, it’s incredible/ That someone so unforgettable/ Thinks that I am/ Unforgettable, too.”

Ben Folds – “The Luckiest”
A simply beautiful song that really tugs your heart strings when the final verse comes along.

Hunter Hayes – “Wanted”
For 2011, this was THE First Dance song. When that happens, it automatically becomes a timeless song.

K-Ci & JoJo – “All My Life”
A 90s R&B jam, you may want to skip past the 35 second instrumental prelude. Or you may want to include it, and choreograph something for it. Up to your creativity. 🙂

Queen – “You’re My Best Friend”
Perfect for the couple looking for a classic rock & roll First Dance song. Very fitting.

Ben E. King – “Stand By Me”
What more can be said about this absolute classic?!? Don’t be shocked if you are suddenly serenaded by your wedding guests as they sing-a-long with Mr. King.

Bruno Mars – “Just The Way You Are”
No, it’s not a cover of Billy Joel’s song from part one. It’s uptempo, it’s modern, it’s fun, and it’s overwhelmingly popular with couples.

Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat – “Lucky”
A great modern duet song with the perfect lyric of “I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend”

Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes – “Up Where We Belong”
A powerful ballad from 1990. Definitely worth a listen to.

Carpenters – “We’ve Only Just Begun”
Perfectly fitting for the First Dance as the song opens with these lyrics: “We’ve only just begun to live/ White lace and promises/ A kiss for luck and we’re on our way.” And then it takes off from there. 🙂

Peabo Bryson & Regina Belle – “A Whole New World”
Young or old, this is a song that every generation knows. In typical Disney fashion, it’s pure magic.

Dave Matthews Band – “Steady As We Go”
I’m not the biggest Dave Matthews fan, but this song is brilliant. Please play it on a great sound system.

Joe Cocker – “You Are So Beautiful”
What do most love ballads feature? A piano and a great voice. And this song has both; the room goes silent when this song plays for my couple’s first dances.
