Until this occurrence, Big Band and Jazz were the most prominent genres of the 1950s. Country music also started its emergence as a popular genre among the general public.
Dominant artists of the 1950s include Dean Martin, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Bill Haley & His Comets, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and arguably the teenage heartthrob of the 1950s, Elvis Presley.
